Privacy Policy (Datenschutzerklärung)

1. Who is responsible (the controller)

The data controller for ModlQ is the operator of this site. Contact for any privacy question: hello@modlq.com.

2. What we collect

When you create an account: your email address and a hashed password. When you check out: your order details and license keys. Payment card details are never seen or stored by ModlQ — checkout is handled entirely by Stripe.

3. Why we collect it, and our legal basis

We process this data to create your account, fulfill your order, issue and validate license keys, and respond to support requests — necessary to perform our contract with you (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). We don't use your data for advertising and we don't sell it.

4. Cookies

ModlQ only sets strictly-necessary cookies — the session cookie that keeps you logged in and lets checkout work. These are technically required for the site to function and don't need your consent under GDPR/TTDSG §25. We don't set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies of any kind.

5. Analytics

We use Vercel Web Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights to see aggregate traffic and performance trends. Both are cookieless by design — no persistent visitor ID, no cross-site tracking, no individual profiles — but they do briefly process technical data like page URL, referrer, and an approximate location derived from IP address to build those aggregates. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in understanding and improving the site (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

6. Third parties we use

• Stripe — processes payments and card data under its own privacy policy.
• Turso — hosts our database (accounts, orders, licenses).
• GitHub — stores and serves the plugin installer files you download.
• Vercel — hosts the site itself and provides the analytics described above.

We don't share your email or order history with any other third party. Some of these providers may process data outside the EU/EEA; where that applies, it's covered by their own standard contractual safeguards.

7. What plugins send home

Installed plugins validate your license key against our server on activation and periodically afterward. They do not read, transmit, or upload the contents of your Revit models.

8. Data retention

We keep account and order data for as long as your account is active, so your license keys and download history stay available. You can request deletion of your account and associated data by emailing hello@modlq.com.

9. Your rights

Under GDPR you can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data; ask us to restrict or object to certain processing; and request a portable copy of your data (Art. 15–21 GDPR). Email hello@modlq.com for any of these. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority.

If this policy changes materially, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
